Ms. Slaughter has been a practicing lawyer and trial litigator for over 20+ years. She received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Corrections from California State University, Long Beach. Ms. Slaughter attended Western State College of Law where she earned a Juris Doctor degree, graduating cum laude. She was recognized for high academic achievement in receiving Bancroft-Whitney American Jurisprudence awards in Property, Trust and Remedies.
Ms. Slaughter served as a full time Judicial Intern to the Honorable Warren J. Ferguson, Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Ms. Slaughter’s dedication to public service was also recognized as she received the BLSA Distinguished Student and Public Service Scholarships.
Prior to relocating to Los Angeles, Ms. Slaughter served as an adjunct professor at Santa Ana City College with the Business Administration’s American Bar Association’s accredited paralegal program. Ms. Slaughter has over 20+ years experience as an educator/instructor/mentor and counselor and is a certified TEFL and TESOL instructor.
Ms. Slaughter has represented employees and employers in a variety of legal matters, including employment related matters, such as sexual harassment, discrimination and harassment based on age, race, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, religion and disability, along with wage and hour violations, breach of contract and wrongful termination. Having years of experience representing both employers and employees, Ms. Slaughter possesses knowledge and skill which gives her a competitive edge in both client representation and mediation. Additional areas of practice include Civil and Business Litigation, Personal Injury and Trademark Infringement. Ms. Slaughter continues to litigate in both California state and federal courts and has appeared before, and litigated matters before administrative agencies including the U. S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, the Department of Labor and Standards Enforcement, and the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing. Ms. Slaughter is an experienced top notch litigator, having successfully tried employment, personal injury and civil business matters. She is also experienced in alternative dispute resolution, having assisted hundreds of clients in obtaining favorable resolutions to legal disputes through mediation and direct settlement negotiations.
Ms. Slaughter also has extensive experience in litigating Probate matters throughout the entire Probate administration court process and is well versed in Estate Planning, having drafted many Wills and Trusts based upon a client’s special and unique needs and concerns.
In addition, Ms. Slaughter has extensive experience in handling personal injury matters, including auto accidents, slip and fall matters, and dog bite cases. Ms. Slaughter has obtained multiple six figure settlements on behalf of personal injury, employment and civil business clients.
Ms. Slaughter is admitted to practice in all state courts of the State of California and the United States District Court for the Central and Eastern Districts of California. Ms. Slaughter is admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Ms. Slaughter is also admitted to practice before the Blue Lake Rancheria Tribal Court.
